Designed thr ough CRF research this program prepares cattle for grass backgrounding/stocker programs, while also developing efficient gains and aiding in reduction of respiratory problems. Receiving and stress relief formula feeds are an important part of this program.

13% COMMERCIAL CATTLE STARTER with three medication options.

1. Pellet with AS-700 (#7135) for stressed calves feed 10 pounds per head per day.

Benefit: Increased gain and prevent respiratory disease.

2. Pellet with Oxytet (#7134) for stressed calves feed 6.7 to 26.6 pounds per head per day.

Benefit: Prevent and/or treat shipping fever.

3. Pellet with Deccox (#7136) for stressed calves feed 1% BW daily.

Benefit: Prevent Coccidiosis.

Program recommendations:

DAY 1
Place a minimum of 2-4 pounds of hay in bunk, then top-dress with 1-3 pounds of 13% Commercial Cattle Starter over the hay. This teaches calves to eat dry feed to get to the hay. Make certain that clean, fresh water is easily available.

DAY 2-5
Keep limited amounts of hay (1-2 pounds per head per day) in bunks, adding more ration as necessary to meet calf intake demand. The goal is for calves to average 2-3% of bodyweight intake by day 5-7.

DAY 6-21/28
Limit hay to 1-2 pounds per day per head. Keep increasing feed intake up to 3% of bodyweight. Don't allow feed to build up and carry over in bunks, and keep bunks free of fines.

For larger cattle going directly to feedlots: Change feed over a 3-5 day period to Cattle Feedlot Prep Pellet with Rumensim. Feed at the rate of 2-1/2 - 3% of bodyweight (or 4.2 to 30.0 pounds per head per day) to prepare cattle for feedlot rations, as well as create efficient gain and feed conversion.
